About me
My name is Susanna Joy Sempill and I am a young woman from the suburb ‘Malmvägen’ in Sollentuna, Sweden.
I was born in Reading, UK, and moved with my family to Sweden in 1994.
At an early age I discovered my talent for drawing and along with that a love for music.
I soon discovered I had vocal pipes. My music teachers would shut off my microphone while I performed, which didn’t help. I still cut through the whole choir. Kinda funny story.
Before long I began writing my own songs, played the guitar, and sang in a punk band with my best mates when I was fifteen.
At the age of sixteen I had won two Battle of the Bands contests for best song that I had written myself. ( One of the songs was about how much I hated my maths teacher, the funny thing is that she was in the jury and loved the song. Haha so high school musical right? )
I also won best price on a drawing contest at the Swedish clothing chain KappAhl.
So then realised that my calling was supposed to be working in the arts in all forms.
I have a background in musical theatre where I did my studies at Balettakademin in Stockholm.
I have had the honour to play big roles like Mimi Marquez from Rent at Arena Sateliten and many more in the community theatre. Sang in a popduo named Blonde Plutoz inspired by retro Sci-fi movies.
So basically I am your typical rock n roll gal with a hand that can create anything with a little bit of color and imagination.
What inspires me when I paint or write music is people. I love people and hearing about their story. What culture they come from and why they think the way they do. From that I make up my own fairytale about them and create a story in paint or in words.
I really hope you injoy my art.
Best regards Susanna
